Missed Dose of Sodibar 600mg Tablet

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Indication of Sodibar 600mg Tablet

Sodibar is indicated for:

1. Management of acidosis in cardiac arrest.
2. Alkalinization of urine.
3. Management of metabolic acidosis in:
   • Severe renal disease
   • Uncontrolled diabetes
   • Circulatory insufficiency from shock or dehydration
   • Severe primary lactic acidosis

Pharmacology

Sodium bicarbonate acts as a systemic alkalizer, increasing plasma bicarbonate levels, buffering excess hydrogen ion concentration, and raising blood pH to reverse the clinical manifestations of acidosis. It also serves as a urinary alkalizer, enhancing the excretion of free bicarbonate ions in urine, thus elevating urinary pH. Additionally, it replenishes electrolyte imbalances in severe diarrhea where bicarbonate loss is significant.

Dosage & Administration of Sodibar 600mg Tablet

The usual dose ranges from 300 mg to 2 grams, administered 1 to 4 times daily.

Take Sodibar 600mg Tablet as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will determine the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Sodibar 600mg Tablet may interact with various medications, including:

• Antibiotics such as doxycycline
• Painkillers like aspirin
• Anti-hypertensive drugs such as mecamylamine
• NMDA receptor antagonists like memantine

Contraindications

Sodibar is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity, hypoventilatory states, excessive chloride depletion, metabolic and/or respiratory alkalosis, hypocalcemia, and diuretics known to induce hypochloremic alkalosis.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use during pregnancy is only recommended if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. It may adversely affect renal function, especially during the second and third trimesters. It may pass into breast milk, hence caution is advised during lactation.

Precautions & Warnings

Exercise caution in patients with pre-existing heart, kidney, or liver disease, high blood pressure, or any allergies. Avoid use in individuals on a salt-restricted diet due to sodium content.
